While in Florence, Italy I spent a day with Italian Photographer Silvia Noferi to develop creative portraits with a model. This included using a variety of props, locations, and directing the model to create unique compositions, create different aesthetics, and evoke various emotions. I wanted to focus on a theme of deep thinking. In this first series of black and white images, each image expresses various emotions we as humans go through: solidarity, contemplation, desire, loneliness, and joy.
In this second series of images, there was more exploration with poses, props, and juxtaposition with objects and the environment. Many of these share a feeling of embrace, joy and pleasure in thought, while others portray a sense of loneliness, distance, or contemplation. In general, I think it is truly up to the interpretation of the viewer as to what they feel from these images. That's the beauty of it all.
